On September 18, 2024, the International Education College successfully held a psychological group counseling event for international students in classroom 1206, aimed at helping new students of the 2024 cohort to quickly integrate into the campus and enhance their psychological adjustment capabilities. The event was jointly presented by Ms. Yang, Mr. Li, and the Mental Health Association of the School of Foreign Languages.
At the beginning of the event, a relaxed and joyful self-introduction broke the barriers among the new international students, laying a good foundation for subsequent communication. Subsequently, through a series of team-building games, the students enhanced their understanding and strengthened team cohesion and sense of belonging through cooperation and competition.
In response to the common challenges faced by international students, such as cultural differences and language barriers, Ms. Yang shared practical psychological adjustment strategies, encouraging everyone to remain optimistic, face difficulties bravely, and learn to seek help. Her professional guidance greatly benefited the international students, enhancing their confidence to meet challenges.
Mr. Li provided a detailed introduction to the college's rules and regulations, learning resources, and living service facilities, offering a comprehensive guide for international students. He particularly emphasized safety education, reminding the students to pay attention to personal safety and abide by laws and regulations.
At the end of the event, the international students expressed their aspirations and confidence for the future, thanking the university and teachers for their hard work. They stated that they would cherish the opportunity to actively integrate into campus life and lay a solid foundation for their academic and career development.
The successful psychological group counseling event not only provided a platform for the 2024 international students to showcase themselves and enhance friendships but also laid a solid psychological foundation for their future studies and life in China. The University will continue to pay attention to the needs of international students, continuously innovate in mental health education models, and safeguard the comprehensive development of international students.
